Helping immigrants secure legal status
Opening Doors' Immigration Legal Services Program provides pro bono (free) legal representation to individuals and families throughout the greater Sacramento region, including support with naturalization (citizenship), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and adjustments of status (green cards). We provide services related to various forms of humanitarian relief and are one of the few organizations in the region providing pro bono representation to clients in immigration court, the vast majority of whom are seeking asylum.
Immigrants have contributed to California’s social fabric for generations
California is home to more immigrants than any other state in the nation. Despite the long history of immigrants’ contributions to our state’s culture and economy, immigration status continues to restrict freedoms and opportunities for many Californians. In Sacramento County, 60% of undocumented immigrants have been living and working in the U.S. for more than 10 years.
