Opening Doors provides high-quality, affordable legal services to refugees, victims of crime, victims of human trafficking, and other low-income individuals in Sacramento and surrounding counties.
We provide the following services free to low-cost: U visas, T visas, VAWA, Asylum, family petitions, Permanent Residence adjustments, Consular Processing, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, DACA, Citizenship and Naturalization, Humanitarian Parole, employment authorization documents, removal/deportation defense and other related relief.
The Immigration Legal Services Community Engagement Program offers training, technical assistance and outreach on immigration options for refugees, victims of crime, and other low-income individuals in Sacramento and surrounding counties.
In 2017, the ILS program was able to serve 77 new clients. We continued to serve over 100 clients with pending cases from prior years. As of January 1, 2018, we have filed more than 160 new applications and began representing local residents in their removal proceedings. There is such a great need in our community to provide these services and we are grateful that we are able to do so at no cost/low cost. We have partnered with local colleges and universities to provide on-site consultations at no cost to students and their families.
