We provide individualized business counseling and microloans. Our team of bilingual loan specialists speak Arabic, Farsi/Dari, and Pashto. We invested nearly $2.7 million in nearly 400 small businesses since 2004, while maintaining less than a 2% default rate.

Opening Doors is a Community Development Financial Institution that specializes in microlending to refugee and immigrant-owned small businesses in the region.
Refugee Business Loans
Through funding from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Opening Doors offers loans to refugees and asylees. This programs offers loans between $1,000 and $15,000 and helps refugees develop, expand, or maintain their own businesses and become financially independent. This program targets refugees who receive public assistance or subsidies, and/or who lack the financial resources, credit history, or personal assets to qualify for business loans or assistance through traditional banks. Refugees who are not yet citizens may participate in the Microenterprise Development Program regardless of their date of arrival in the U.S.
Small Business Administration Loans
Working with the Small Business Administration (SBA), Opening Doors offers Microloan between $1,000 and $50,000 to entrepreneurs in the Sacramento region. To ensure borrowers become successful entrepreneurs, Opening Doors provides training and technical assistance in: business plan development, management, bookkeeping, and marketing.
